Deathrattle Gravelords on Parade: part 1

My Deathrattle-only Soulblight Gravelords army is the most complete "real army" in my collection. With the release of some new skeleton sculpts this year, I decided to revisit it and get it all painted up to finally enter the Armies on Parade competition. They're now complete, and I'll cover them over two posts (welcome to part 1)...

Salamanders Space Marine

A one-off project and a study in rendering materials. This is a little one-off experiment in a non-conventional depiction of a Space Marine. Pics and process below the jump.

Revisiting Space Wolves - Infantry Squads

Intercessor Squad Þorberg

In 2020, I took on a full 40k Space Wolves army as a lockdown project, the first time I'd approached a straightforward out-of-the-box project on this scale. I had something around 1500pts before I moved on to a Soulblight Gravelords army in 2021 and I always intended to revisit the Space Wolves. I'm finally doing that! This post will focus on the infantry squads that have received a fresh round of painting attention. Plenty of new pics below the jump...

Primaris Space Wolves part 2: Redemptor Dreadnought

The first two units of my Primaris Space Wolves army for 40k are complete. There's a lot to get through so they're getting split into two posts. In this one I'm gonna show you the completed Redemptor Dreadnought. More below the jump.

Primaris Space Wolves Part 1

My new project is the biggest one I've ever taken on: a complete Space Wolves army for 40k. For the first time I'm working with all new kits with minimal conversions and aiming for a rules-legal Battleforged army for 9th edition 40k. More below the jump:

Single day scratchbuild for #onedayinq28th challenge: a #turnip28 trooper

Shout out to @kitbashcat on Instagram who arranged a one-day #inq28 conversion challenge titled #OneDayInq28th. Basically build and paint a converted model from scratch without planning in one day. A lot of work! But good fun. More pictures of my first foray into the world of #Turnip28 below the jump:

Tutorial - Painting Moon Aelf Silver

Several people were interested in my painting process for the weathered silver armour on the Moon Aelves I built for the #28magchallenge last year. I finally got round to painting the last Aelf of the group so here's (at long last) a breakdown of the process.

WIPs – What's Hek Up To in Late 2019?

It's been a busy year for my hobby desk! I've gotten full into the hobby butterfly style and have several things on the go at once, so here's what's in the pipeline that I'm planning to finish before the end of the year.

AoS Relic Lizardmen Part 11: Slann Mage Priest complete

The centerpiece of my Relic Lizardmen, a crucual part of their lore, and my biggest attempt at sculpting from scratch, the mummified Slann Mage Priest is complete at last.

AoS Relic Lizardmen Part 10: Salamanders complete

To add some dinosaurian flavour to my Relic Lizardmen, I painted up four lead Ral Partha sculpts that are older than me. As medium-sized quadruped dinosaur creatures, I guess these can count as Salamanders!

Age of Sigmar Moon Aelves part 3

In time for the #28magchallenge deadline, here is my complete Ian Miller inspired force of Moon Aelves, descended from the wandering moon Celine to steal the breaths of mortal folk.

AoS Relic Lizardmen Part 8: Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One complete

In the rainforests of Hysh there are great pools of green water miles in length, with banks as sheer and straight as roads. And they border cyclopean stone walls just as green, with age and moss and algae. And along the walls can be seen carvings of reptilian heads, and statues that are neither man nor beast. And the calls of unseen animals in the jungle seem to carry the cadence of spoken words, as if a language unintelligible to men.

Complete: Necrons from #Kitbashember

#Kitbashember was a fun project, and very fast-paced. My painting is much slower, so at long last in February I can present my completed Necron warband. Pics and info below the jump...

Mordheim Beasts of Chaos – done for now

Well I got most of the way through this side project and I realised I've done all I wanted with it. That is: write an all-Beasts Mordheim list and make some cool Beastmen. I've built five of the seven models in the list. I didn't make the magister and second ungor (officially a mutant with cloven hooves). The painting on the completed models is only around 80% done and I'm going to put them aside for now. I might come back to it another time but my neglected Relic Lizardmen are calling out to me.
