Skeleton Soulblight Gravelords Army

This year's big project is a Soulblight Gravelords army for Age of Sigmar that's heavy on the skeletons. If you've been following me on Instagram, you'll have seen all my work in progress pictures on there. It's been a while since I posted something on this blog, so here's a bumper post of completed skeleton units of all types. Lots more pics below the jump...

New Necrons

One of my favourite projects is the Necron warband I made for #Kitbashember 2018. In fact I enjoyed making them so much that after making something for each of the #Kitbashember prompts I went right ahead and made another model. At the time I even had a couple more ideas that I never got round to, and finally I've found the time and the right bits to make them work. Here's some new Necrons.

Single day scratchbuild for #onedayinq28th challenge: a #turnip28 trooper

Shout out to @kitbashcat on Instagram who arranged a one-day #inq28 conversion challenge titled #OneDayInq28th. Basically build and paint a converted model from scratch without planning in one day. A lot of work! But good fun. More pictures of my first foray into the world of #Turnip28 below the jump:

Greater Daemon of Obol, Chaos God of the Old World

#28magchallenge is back with another great prompt, and of course I had to make something for it. This time participants were invited to create a fifth Chaos god. So here's my scratch-built contribution, a Greater Daemon of the Chaos God of the Old World. More pics and story below the jump...

Age of Sigmar Moon Aelves for #28magchallenge

The Bad Moon is not the only strange celestial body that orbits the Mortal Realms. As the Idoneth come from the depths of the sea, the Moon Aelves descend from the wandering moon Celine, walking through the air as though totally weightless. Like the Idoneth raid the land for mortal souls, the Moon Aelves come for the breaths of mortals, capturing them in silver phials or clouding cold silver mirrors with them. Of course last breaths are desirable above all...

Complete: Necrons from #Kitbashember

#Kitbashember was a fun project, and very fast-paced. My painting is much slower, so at long last in February I can present my completed Necron warband. Pics and info below the jump...

#Kitbashember Bonus: Necron Immortal

#Kitbashember was so fun, here's one final bonus conversion while I'm in the mood for Necrons: a Necron Immortal.

#Kitbashember Necrons roundup

With the start of December, #Kitbashember is over and done with. I've started painting the Necrons I made so here's a WIP group photo.

#Kitbashember 27-30 Necron Prince

Here's my final #Kitbashember build, the Necron leader himself, Prince Nakhtnebtepnefer.

#Kitbashember 24-27 Necron Ibis Warrior

A burly Necron brawler for #Kitbashember. What's a Necron Ibis Warrior? Let's say it counts as a Lychguard, which- according to Games Workshop- "are the wardens of the nobility, said to be utterly dedicated to their charges. While most Necrons wear a suit of living metal, the Lychguard wear huge suits of ancient armour."

#Kitbashember 21-24 Necron Monolith

Today's #Kitbashember prompt is "Sneaky/Carrier". I chose to interperet "Carrier" as a personnel carrier, although I've seen other amazing kitbashes taking it to mean an equipment-carrying trooper. So what's a Necron's preferred transport? A sneaky portal-bearing Monolith of course...

#Kitbashember 18-21 Necron Lammassu

Another slot I almost skipped, #Kitbashember 18-21 is "Slave / Ally". I repurposed an old abandoned conversion to produce something new that doesn't really exist in the lore, a 40k Lammassu.

#Kitbashember 15-18 Necron Flayed One

Today's #Kitbashember slot "Psycho/Feral" for Necrons has just got to be a Flayed One! This one is designed to look like he's nestled inside an entire corpse...

#Kitbashember 12-15 Necron Scarab

For November 12-15 the #Kitbashember prompt is "Grenadier / Pet". If you ask me a Necron pet has got to be a scarab. And not a small one...

#Kitbashember 9-12 Necron Canoptek Wraith

This is the conversion that's strayed furthest from the official Necron design. My Canoptek Wraith is a kind of homunculus, here fulfilling the role of Healer in the #Kitbashember list.

#Kitbashember 6-9 Necron Champion

#Kitbashember continues with the prompt "Champion / Priest"...

#Kitbashember 3-6 Necron Destroyer

#Kitbashember continues with days 3-6 "Heavy". I went with a Destroyer for my Necrons. Maybe you can see the Beksiński influence beginning to show...

#Kitbashember 1-3 Necron Trooper

I'm digging #Kitbashember started by @passion.in.person and @chaos_cooltist on Instagram. Here's my first offering, a Necron footsoldier...

Mordheim Mercenaries – Wederverkrijgingsgilde Expeditionary Company

The Magpies are complete at long last! A "quick project" to make a Mordheim company in the style of an old Dutch Schutterstuk kept me going for a full four months. Pictures below the jump.

Lamians Warband: Painting Update

Group shot – The Lamians Warband

It's been a while since I posted last, because I've been knuckling down and just painting all the models at the same time. Instead of posting about 10 models in gradually decreasing states of bareness, I thought I'd hold off until they're (almost) done.

So, here they are!
